Title : Pediatric Autoimmune Encephalitis - Finding a Consensus on Diagnosis and Management.
Abstract:
Pediatric autoimmune encephalitis (AIE) is emerging to be more common than had previously been thought in children. Even though the underlying pathophysiology is similar, the presentation, antibody types, treatment and outcomes in children are very different from adult autoimmune encephalitis. I would like to give an overview of autoimmune encephalitis to begin with then discuss the presentation of this condition in children. I will present the literature on how to diagnose AIE in children, what are the common antibodies to look for, discuss international consensus on management of these paediatric patients and what tumour screening they require. Towards the end, I would like to share my experience and provide an opportunity for audience to ask questions and discuss Pediatric autoimmune encephalitis.
What will audience learn from your presentation?
Objectives of my presentation are:
1. Understand the research behind identifying pathophysiology of autoimmune encephalitis
2. Understand the presentation and classification of Pediatric autoimmune encephalitis
3. Learning how to manage and diagnose pediatric autoimmune encephalitis
4. Review current consensus on diagnosing and treating pediatric autoimmune encephalitis.
5. Share my research experience and data of 10 years
