Title : New treatment of Bell's palsy through regeneration of peripheral facial nerve & facial muscles by increasing mitochondrial ATP

Abstract:

The facial nerve is one of the most commonly damaged cranial nerves. Loss of facial expression and deformation of facial paralysis have serious implications for the physical and psychological well-being of patients. Peripheral facial nerve paralysis is often treated as an aesthetic problem, but it can also have real physical and psychological problems. These include speech impairment, low self-esteem, decreased social interaction, oral incontinence, and dental problems, and a lack of progression of food through the mouth can cause tooth decay and bite the inside of the paralyzed cheek, resulting in repeated trauma and ulceration. Various strategies have been developed during the past century, especially during the past decades, to promote muscle and nerve recovery and regeneration, especially during the past decades. However, there is no clear solution yet. However, skeletal and peripheral nerves have remarkable regenerative capacity, mainly due to the spare pool of satellite(muscle stem cells) and neural stem cells in face. Therefore, this review showed that Bell’s Palsy could be dramatically improved through regeneration of peripheral facial nerve & facial muscles by increasing mitochondrial ATP without surgery.
