Biography:
Samad Udaipurwala is a senior at Shrewsbury High School in Massachusetts. His work focuses on neuroscience, computational biology and chronobiology. At UMass Chan Medical School, Samad is researching neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s disease, using Drosophila melanogaster as model organism to study neuroprotective effects of different proteins while presenting at conferences and science fairs. Outside of the lab, Samad is the Director of Outreach at the non-profit Envehope, an organization creating pen pal programs at children’s hospitals internationally. Through his work in the lab, work and clinical experiences, Samad hopes to pursue a career in neuroscience and medicine after high school.
